Belgrave Lantern Parade 2014

Turns out there are fun things you can do in the hills around here, one of them is the annual Lantern Parade!

I went this year (even attempted to make my own lantern...) with my brother, sister in law and their kids. Thankfully it wasn't overly cold in the hills when we went, and we all had a pretty good night.
Just thought I would share some snaps I took on the night. Apologies if they're blurry, it can be hard to take photos when you're looking after a 6 yeah old.

Enjoy...

It was a fairly long night, but I think that's mainly because we had to wait so long to get dinner (note to self, just make dinner when you get home, it's easier than waiting 10,000hrs for pizza). I'm thinking I might go next year, so I guess I best start thinking of a new lantern idea!

I HAVE A LISP?!?!

You know how when you talk, you hear your internal voice? It's always like 'my voice is so manly' or 'I sound so nasally'. Well, that's what I thought anyway. Until I actually head my recorded voice last week.
Alex and I were filming a couple of things for my YouTube channel, and listening to the playback I realised I have a lisp.

WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME?!!? Apparently everyone has realised I have a lisp, but never thought to mention it to me. I had no idea!

I mean, I know why I have a lisp, but I've never noticed that I actually have one. I'm not sure how I feel about having it, I'm sure I'll be fine, but for the moment, I'm sort of on the fence. There goes my chance for a career in radio!

Is there something that you've never noticed? Like a gap in your teeth, or slightly crooked eyebrows (the horror!)? Let me know in the comments below!

I think I will embrace my lisp, and start deliberately saying words with the letter S... Silly sally saw snakes swim slowly.

Talk sssssoon!

'New' Fashion - Pastel Goth

Did you know there was a fashion style called Pastel Goth? No? Neither did I.
I heard the term while watching one of my favourite YouTubers Grav3yardgirl talking about Forever 21. Overwhelmed with curiosity, I headed over to Google and went about searching! According to Wiki:

"Seapunk, Pastel Grunge, and Pastel Goth are all sub genres or variations of the Pastel Grunge movement. Pastel Grunge is Soft Grunge with an emphasis on pastel colors. Someone who dresses in the Pastel Grunge style will dress more akin to the look of Baby Spice and the late 1990s. Pastel Goth is a version of Soft Grunge with more of a bent towards the gothic aspects of the fashion. Pastel Goths often wear spiked garters, and hair clips featuring skeleton hands or eyeballs on them. Seapunk, is the Soft Grunge variant that has received the largest amount of press. Seapunk is a Soft Grunge/Pastel Grunge subset that focuses on the usage of aquatic related colors and imagery. It is also common in Seapunk to use poor quality pixel based graphic or bitmap images that appear to be taken from a late 1990s GeoCities page."

Confused? So was I! Never fear, Google Images to the rescue!

A bit odd, but kinda cute, don't you think? Soft sweet pastel colours, with the hard edge of goth spikes and black. Tell me your thoughts in the comments below!

I love so many of the elements from this style. I love pastel colours, as well as black and spikes. I've never thought to wear them together though... I think I may have to give this a try! During my recent crafternoon, I DIY'd a couple of items with spikes, so I think the spike and flower headband is worth a try.

I already have some faded pink in my hair, and I was actually thinking about redoing it, so this is the perfect chance to add some pastel fabulousness to it! Speaking of hair...

Oh God, if only I could get away with this! Pretty sure I'd never be allowed to have my hair down at work, ever again. Or I could just buy wigs... But really, does anyone actually want to wear wigs?

Anyway, just a quick one today.

Talk soon,

Love, J xx

WTM: Vegie Bar

Looking for a top notch vegetarian restaurant,  but don't want to pay through the roof? Head on down to Fitzroy, and keep your eyes peeled for Vegie Bar.

Alex and I went in for a very late dinner, one Friday night. We were greeted by very happy smiley staff, and served delicious food!

Alex had melt in your mouth tomato and cheese gnocchi, and I had scrumptious caramelised onion and paneer pizza.

If you want more information, head over to Vegie Bar

They're located at 380 Brunswick Street Fitzroy VIC 3065. Tram route 112- Stop 17 is right outside their door!

They're open:

WTM: Old Melbourne Gaol Walking Ghost Tour

You know when you are so bored, and cannot think of anything to do, but just want to get out of the house and adventure? Well Alex and I were stuck in that exact situation a couple of weeks ago! We scoured the interwebs to see if there was anything interesting to do, when we stumbled upon the Old Melbourne Gaol.

Did you know they do night time ghost tours? Well, I didn't! I've done a walking ghost tour before, I'll chuck the link at the bottom, but nothing like this.

The tour begins on the ground floor, of the remnants of the old gaol. An actor, portraying the hangman, walks you through the different areas, telling stories of the different inmates that once served time there, explains the conditions they would have suffered through, all by candle light.

We werent allowed to take photos during the performance, so the photos below are once the lights went on, and the tour was over.

Waiting for the doors to open and the tour to start. I thought I would share it because, well, everyone likes chins.

Our guide and hangman!

There are a whole heap of student displays at the gaol at the moment.

The mask of silence, leather mitts to stop masturbation, and iron shackles

This has only just been found, it's another entrance to the womens section of the jail

All in all it was a great night out, tickets were $35 each, and it was a night filled with education and murder.

We're also interested in going back and doing the Watchtower tour as well!

Let me know what you think!

Sample Level One Routine - Pole Princess

We have pole class tonight, so I just wanted to share a quick video of some of the moves we learn. I've realised when I try to explain things to people, it doesn't really make sense!

In this video, some of the moves include:
Princess Walk
The Vixen
A Walkthrough
Fairy (Front Hook)
Pole Crouch
Body Roll

Everyone calls the moves different things, just depending on where you learn them!

Outfit Of The Day

I seem to have gone on a slight clothes shopping spree of late, buying a couple of new items every week or fortnight, and now I have so many outfits I don't know what to wear!

So, what better way to see what I have, than by posting about each outfit?

Today, I'm wearing quite a colourful ensemble. I'm in love with blues, teals and purples at the moment.

Apologies for the terrible photo, I'm sure my photography skills will improve...eventually!

Top: City Chick
Skirt: Big W
Stockings: City Chick
Shoes: K-Mart
Earrings: Colleen

Stay tuned for my next Outfit Of The Day! If there is anything you'd like to see, or want to know about, send me an email jaydeingrid@gmail.com

Catch Up

Hey folks,

Just a quick post to give you guys an update!

My Real Estate Agent emailed me today, some exciting news, we're getting our new dishwasher on the weekend! Apparently the owner has it ready, and just needs to come over and have it installed. I'm almost tempted to make lots of dirty dishes, just so we can use the dishwasher. Almost.

We've also been given a quote for new carpet for our master bedroom, which will hopefully be installed in the next couple of weeks, which means we can actually move into the room! At the moment, we're camped out in the sunroom, surrounded by boxes of things we haven't been able to put away yet.

It'll be 3 years that Justin and I have been together, middle of next month. I've been trying to subtely hint to Justin that I would love to go and see the Rocky Horror stage show, not sure if he's picked up what I'm putting down.
I'd also love to go away for the weekend, and just relax, but we'll see if that goes ahead!

I'm pretty excited, I spoke to my brother the other day, and we've organised to go to the Belgrave Lantern Parade this year! More crafting, and I get to spend time with my amazing neice and nephew! Talk about excited haha.

I think I've mentioned it before, but I'm now doing Level 1-Beginners Pole Dancing every Wednesday night. We're three classes in so far, our 4th class is tomorrow night. We've learnt some basic moves, and we're going to start working on a basic routine, to perform during the last class. It's hard work, but I love it. I must say though, I'm a little disappointed that I haven't suffered any bruises yet, everyone else seems to have! Maybe I'm just super tough!

So anyway, that's about all for now. I'll try and write up a couple more posts for you soon. I'm working on Welcome To Melbourne - Ghost Tour and a couple of fashion ones too. Fingers crossed I have time to get everything done!

Love,

J xx
